Are You Plugged In?

Romans 8:26 “Also, the Spirit helps us with our weakness. We do not know how to pray as we should. But the Spirit himself speaks to God for us, even begs God for us with deep feelings that words cannot explain.”

To run pretty much anything in your house from clocks to appliances to entertainment, even with our phones, everything needs two key components. One cannot be used without the other. First you need some form of electricity and the second an outlet to plug into. Without one or the other the things in your home will have a hard time running. Staying plugged in is important for fresh food, cooked food, watching T.V. or listing to the radio and for those who use their smart phones for everything it is important. There’s nothing like the panicked feeling of not having a charger or the power going out when you’re at 10%.

As important as it is for our homes to function day to day, there is something even more vitally important to plug into, a more powerful source each day to live. Troubles and trials will come our way. We will have days when we are weak, struggling or hurting. When those days come, the only source of power we need is Jesus. Have you felt pulled down by regrets, fears, doubts? Do you at times feel weak or lost? You have become disconnected and you are probably reading 10%. It’s time to plug back into your Source and Strength.

It’s time to plug into the Source of Power -JESUS…

The source of Forgiveness -Isaiah 43:25 “I, I am the One who erases all your sins, for my sake; I will not remember your sins.”

---There is nothing more that gives us greater strength than to have forgiveness. We will stumble, sometimes lose our way, we will make mistakes and probably repeat them a time or two. But we do not need to let those things keep us down. When our heart truly wants to do better and we want to walk with Jesus, we only need to ask and Jesus will forgive and when we stay plugged into Him it will be easier to not fall again.

The source of Faith -Hebrews 11:6 “Without faith no one can please God. Anyone who comes to God must believe that he is real and that he rewards those who genuinely want to find him.”

---Faith is simply believing in God. We need to believe He is watching over us, taking care of our needs, helping us through our trials. In good times and bad, when we stay plugged into Jesus in faith, we will gain not only strength to recharge ourselves, but God has promised we will be rewarded.

The source of Love -1 John 4:16 “And so we know the love that God has for us, and we trust that love. God is love. Those who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.”

---We all want to feel special and loved, especially in our low times. There is nothing better than an encouraging word or a hug to help us through what life throws at us. The good news is that we can always have that when we stay plugged into Jesus. Live in love and God will live in you with all the love you need.

The source of Health -Jeremiah 17:14 “Lord, heal me, and I will truly be healed. Save me, and I will truly be saved. You are the one I praise.”

---Being sick is never fun or having health problems can be scary. Even when those we love get sick it can run our energy down with worry or anxiety. But Jesus is our great Healer and when we plug into Him, we can praise His name because He can heal. Not every sickness or hurt will be healed for everyone, but we can be assured that even in loss, Jesus will heal our hearts. We only need to stay plugged in.

The source of Patience -James 1:19-21 “My dear brothers and sisters, always be willing to listen and slow to speak. Do not become angry easily, because anger will not help you live the right kind of life God wants. So, put out of your life every evil thing and every kind of wrong. Then in gentleness accept God’s teaching that is planted in your hearts, which can save you.”

---We all know patience is a virtue and we have our patience tried daily. That co-worker, a family member, our children, even our spouse. Trying to be patient can be draining to the soul and mind, especially with the difficult people. That is why Jesus tells us in James to step back, slow down and take a deep breath before reacting. Patience helps us be right with God and when we stayed plugged into Him, He will help our patience grow and we will find less stress.

The source of Peace -John 16:33 “I told you these things so that you can have peace in me. In this world you will have trouble but be brave! I have defeated the world.”

---Peace of mind is hard to find when we’re worried, have anxiety, stress, or fears. Those all can also be draining on us. John is telling us that we can have peace when we plug into Jesus. He’s lived and walked in our shoes and He defeated the world at the cross. We can have peace when we hold onto Jesus believing no matter what, He’s got this. We can’t change circumstances and we can’t stop living with fear in our heart and minds. God has promised that He will come again and that while on this earth He is fighting our battles. Plug into those promises and find peace.

The source of Hope -Romans 5:5 “And this hope will never disappoint us, because God has poured out his love to fill our hearts. He gave us his love through the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to us.”

---Hope is the thing we look forward to happening. Jesus has promised us hope in salvation, in forgiveness, and in love. He pours His love in us and has given us the Holy Spirit to help us. When you feel pulled down, burdens and trials too great, plug into Jesus and let Him fill your heart with hope. Hope for better days to come and hope you will get through this. Jesus is our hope.

When we stay close to Jesus, stay close to our Power Source and stay plugged in, our 10% will fill to 100% and overflowing. The best and only way to stay plugged in, is finding the two essential things that cannot work without the other. Plug into the Bible and let prayer be your energy source. Stay plugged in by having a personal relationship with Jesus and you will be blessed. Maybe not in the middle of your trials but His strength will help you get through them. You will come out the other side refreshed and powered up to keep moving forward. Plug into Jesus today.
