God Will Bring the Sunshine

Psalm 29:11, “The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace.”

It's been rainy with no sign of relief. The kids are restless and arguing, maybe you have a baby who won't stop fussing. The boss is piling on the work. Your in-laws are frustrating you, maybe you and your spouse are at odds. No matter the situation, you feel you've reached the end of your rope and the slightest thing will tip you over to your boiling point of tears or growling.

Jane was there. Nothing was going right; the rain was not stopping, and the baby was crying. It was time for lunch, and she headed to the kitchen to make easy peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Once the bread was ready, she spread the jelly then went to open the jar of peanut butter. When she tried, the lid refused to come off. At the end of her rope, Jane burst into tears. The baby had kept her up all night, her two-year-old was in the middle of his terrible two’s, the rain made it impossible to send the kids out to play, and now the lid of the peanut butter wouldn't come off.

Katie, Jane’s five-year-old who was playing with her dolls came into the kitchen. Seeing her Mama cry, she rested her hand on her arm, “Don't worry mommy. God will bring the sunshine back tomorrow.”

Jane hugged her daughter thanking her for reminding her of God's love and helping her put things into perspective. Although the day felt overwhelming, it was just today. Tomorrow would be better, and God would bring the sunshine back.

Can you relate to Jane? I believe we all can. There are just some days everything is going wrong, and we've reached the end of our rope and the jar of peanut butter is the last straw and we can't cope anymore.

There is hope though. God promised to be our strength and will carry our trouble so we can cope. Even on the dark, dreary days, God will bring the sunshine tomorrow, we just have to get through the now.

One of my favorite things to say is, no matter how the day looks, whether it’s troubles, rainy, dark and dreary, when we know Jesus, when Jesus lives in our lives, we will always have sunshine in our hearts. Jesus is our light, and the promises and hopes He gives can always lift our souls.

Following is a favorite hymn of mine on those dreary days or bringing in the springtime. The link after that will play the song for you. Today, no matter what you're feeling always remember, God will bring the sunshine tomorrow.

1.There is sunshine in my soul today, Chorus- O there's sunshine, blessed sunshine,

More glorious and bright While the peaceful, happy moments roll;

Then glows in any earthly sky, When Jesus shows His smiling face

For Jesus is my light. There is sunshine in my soul.

2. There is music in my soul today, 3. There is springtime in my soul today,

A carol to my King; For when the Lord is near

And Jesus, listening, can hear The dove of peace sings in my heart,

The song I cannot sing. The flowers of grace appear.

4. There is gladness in my soul today,

And hope, and praise, and love,

For blessings which He gives me now,

For joys laid up above.

I hope you have been able to join us as we have been reading through Hebrews. When we study the Bible we can gain so much strength, hope, guidance and so much more. Our relationship with Jesus can grow and we can grow more like Jesus. Just adding a little reading to your life each day can lift your spirits and bring in the sunshine. I hope you can continue to join me as we read Hebrews chapter 4.
