Grow In Jesus

But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Glory be to him now and forever! Amen. -2 Peter 3:18

Planting season is almost here as we welcome in spring and say goodbye to winter. For many planting season is fun. If you enjoy vegetables and want to reap a good harvest you grow a vegetable garden. Many people enjoy flowers and in the spring the warehouses are full of new plants ready to be planted in a new flower garden. I have had both a vegetable garden and flower beds. Personally I liked the vegetables but it was a lot of work and required a lot of time and space. I prefer, each spring, to buy new flowers and plant them. I only do annuals because each year I like to create something new. New colors, new varieties, new patterns.

Having gardens and creating something from just seeds is fun but work. You can't just plant the seeds and then do nothing and expect results. You have to continually cultivate the garden. Pull weeds, water them, and take care of them. Then one day you will have beautiful flowers or yummy vegetables.

Growing in Jesus is like having a garden. You can't just accept Jesus as your Savior and be good. You have to spend time with Him, cultivating your relationship. Dive into the Bible and learn what Jesus has for you. Pray with Jesus daily, He's always with you. Weed out the negative things in your life that take you away from Jesus and keep Satan and his lies out of your home. The daily joys of growing closer to Jesus will continue to bring you peace and then one day Jesus will come again and reap His harvest (us) and we will spend eternity with Him. Begin growing today!
