“Now this is what the Lord says. He created you, people of Jacob; he formed you, people of Israel. He says, “Don’t be afraid, because I have saved you. I have called you by name, and you are mine.” -Isaiah 43:1
It’s always nice to go somewhere and people know your name. Hopefully because you are friends or because they have only heard good things about you. I, myself, have a harder name to pronounce and I am better with faces then names, so for someone to remember my name means something to me. And with your kids, they are not happy when you call them by their sibling’s name by mistake.
I remember when I was younger before my husband joined our church everyone knew me and he was known as Delaina’s boyfriend and then husband. But now all these years later he has been more outgoing then myself and we work every summer at our church camp meeting and with our church’s outreach for children known as Pathfinders and he talks to everyone and people now say, ‘Oh yeah your Steve’s wife.’ There are times that people come up to either of us and know us but we aren’t sure who they are because our names have been talked about throughout the churches.
As nice as it is when people know your name, it’s exciting to read what the Bible says. Jesus knows your name! He knew your name before you were even created, even thought of. He has your name written down in His heart and on His hands (Isaiah 49:16)., He even knows the number of hairs on your head (Luke 12:7). And one of my favorite Bible passages, “Before I made you in your mother’s womb, I chose you. Before you were born, I set you apart for a special work... (Jeremiah 1:5). What an exciting thought. Yes, you are loved by family and that is special but to be loved by someone who knows us with the depth of God’s love is awesome! To know we serve a God that knows everyone of us in this big world of people is a wonderful thought.
So next time someone forgets your name, or you feel no one knows you, remember there is someone who will never forget you. You belong to Jesus and He cares for you and nothing will ever change that. He knows your name.
"We know that in everything God works for the good of those who love him. They are the people he called, because that was his plan. God knew them before he made the world, and he chose them to be like his Son so that Jesus would be the firstborn of many brothers and sisters. God planned for them to be like his Son; and those he planned to be like his Son, he also called; and those he called, he also made right with him; and those he made right, he also glorified." -Romans 8:28-30

Isn’t it wonderful that He knows our name?! Haven’t we all felt insignificant in this world? Thank you for the awesome encouragement 😊
