“Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.”
-James 1:12 (ESV)
Lately our state has been under a cloud of rain. April showers have moved into May showers. Everyone around is now pleading rain, rain go away.
These dreary days of little sunshine can damper anyone’s spirit and the joys seem to also be under a cloud. The challenges begin as no one can begin planting season and grass can’t be mowed. We all long for those warm dry days of summer.
Our lives can at times feel like the dreary days of rain. We may be faced with challenges that damper our spirits. We may feel the rain will never let up and our joy slowly disappears.
In those moments we probably feel like singing rain, rain go away, come again another day. I can’t take anymore of life’s challenges raining upon me.
This is the time we turn to God in more fervent prayer. We can pray that God will lead our thoughts to joy. Help us see the sunshine through the rain, the rainbow through the clouds. We can pray God will help us see and acknowledge the blessings He has given for today.
Even if the rain or challenges won’t let up for a while, there still is good that can come from it. Trust God is still in control and working all things out for the good. Be thankful for the sunshine when it comes and know it will get better.
If you are under unending days of rain I say put on a cute pair of boots and go splash in some puddles. Make the best of each day and thank God there will always be tomorrow.
