TRUST

2 Corinthians 3:17 “The Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”

There are two things we need to hold onto right now through this time of stay at home orders and a deadly virus. There are plenty of news channels spreading the fear and it’s always unsettling when uncertainties about the future loom over our minds. But we serve an awesome God who has promised a time when all trials will end, and we will have salvation with Him in heaven. For now, He asks that we just hold onto trust and faith. Today let’s look at trust a little closer and on Thursday we’ll talk more about faith.

T- Take one day at a time. Matthew 6:34

Jesus instructs us to only take one day at a time. Today has enough troubles of it’s own to worry about what will happen tomorrow. Daily, things are changing around us anyway. Each day comes as predictable as the weather and we can’t make solid plans because something as simple as snow can change them. Live in today, take what you have today and do what you can today to trust Jesus and be a light for Him.

R- Remember all things work together for good. Romans 8:28

This is hard when we can’t see through the troubles in front of us. We have to trust God, that He sees the bigger picture, He already has our path marked and the course we’re on is where He needs us to be at this time. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but we will see the good that was planned in all we go through.

U- Under no circumstances should you worry. John 14:27

In Matthew we read how we shouldn’t worry about food, drink or clothing because as God takes care of the rest of His creation, He will take care of us. No matter what we face we need to trust that God will take care of us and bring us peace. Peace is definitely what we need as we deal with the fear and uncertainties we are facing at this time.

S- Start each day with prayer and thanksgiving. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Trust begins when we believe Jesus is real and we know we can talk to Him. When we invite Jesus into our life to walk with us the situations we face become easier to handle and when we give all our fears, worries, and anxieties to Jesus our burdens become lighter so we are able to face each day. And remember to be thankful. Thanking Jesus for the smallest things in our lives helps us through so many circumstances because we begin to realize how lucky we are to have what we have. Start the day in prayer, pray throughout the day as you need to and then end the day in prayer, and we can get through anything.

T- The Lord will never leave you nor forsake you. Joshua 1:9

Several times in scripture we read the Lord is with us. He will uphold His covenants. He will be by our side through everything. Now is the time we need to believe these promises. Hold onto them and have trust in God’s word. This trust will help us through all trials we will face in life now and in the future. When you believe God’s always by your side it will help you get through each day.

So, trust God today, believe in Him and in His Word. This world is only our temporary home and one day all this will pass but God is forever, and heaven is real and is our future. Choose Jesus today, choose trust and gain strength from prayer and the Bible.

The news will continue to spread real and exaggerated stories and fear will enter our minds but when we cling to our Lord, He will drive out all fear. For now, hold onto your families, relish in the break of every day hum drum and welcome spring. The showers will end, and the flowers will bloom. Be thankful for today and live in today. Tomorrow will come but not for the next several hours. What can you do today to bring in the blessings? Trust and love, the rainbow is around the corner.
