Wise Days Ahead

Ephesians 5:15-16 “Use every chance you have for doing good, because these are evil times. 17 So do not be foolish but learn what the Lord wants you to do.”

Today is one of the most difficult times we live in. Technology is at an all-time high with smart phones, smart T.V.s, Smart appliances and now the cars are getting smarter. Everything we need to make life easy is at our fingertips. Everything we need to distract us with this world and what it offers.

It has become more difficult now as social media, news, and fake news can be easily streamed into our life exasperating the things happening around us. Politics, the shootings, and the killings, how the government is trying to “control” things. People are pulling away from the Bible and trust in God and we find ourselves having to do what we have to, to “accept” society. How many can look around themselves and feel we are in the days of Noah or even Sodom and Gomorrah again.

Now is the time to cling tighter to God and His word. In Ephesians we are told to be careful how we live and now how we live each day is critical. We need to be wise and make the most of every opportunity. So, how does one make the most of each day? One idea is keeping your priorities straight, God, family, others. Isn't that how the 10 commandments are lived out? Commands 1-4; God. Command 5; family. Commands 6-10; others. Let's look at these more closely.

1. Keep your relationship with God most important. Colossians 1:16 tells us God created us for Himself. Each day we are His priority as He takes care of our needs, listens to our prayers, helps us, carries our burdens and gives us strength. God needs to be our #1 priority; we know He will take care of everything else happening around us. God gives His time each day all day. Are you spending time with Him in His word and in prayer each day?

2. Develop your family relationship. Family is a gift from God. They are the ones who understand you the most and can share so many of the same things with you. They are the comforting arms in sad times, a fountain of joy in good times. The state of this world is in rough shape and because of that families are being torn apart. The unity God intended for us; Satan has torn apart with worldly mindsets. Now is the time families need to be closer together. Are you taking steps to move closer with your family or further apart?

3. Minister to others. Material things will only satisfy one for so long. God has said when Jesus returns, this world and all the material in it will be burned up. Only people in God's world will last forever. God has given each of us spiritual gifts to minister to others and to help share the love of Jesus spreading the good news. How are you using what God has given you?

Did you know there is 86,400 seconds in a day? After the day has passed those seconds are gone, they cannot be stored for another day. How you use them is up to you, but you only have that day. If I give you $86,400 a day to spend in that day and only that day, would you be wise in your spending? Would you prioritize how you spend it and on what?

God has given us time every day to use wisely and in such an uncertain time that we live in we need to be wise how we use each day. Prioritize your days and make sure in all your schedules, playtime, and work that you make time for God. You're always His priority, use every opportunity to keep him your priority.
